Christine, one of my trainees, she is Korean and speaks English very well.
She always comes to work on time, hard working,
and people said that she is exactly like another Nita.
Few days ago,
a family tried to check in with Christine
and there might be miscommunication
and then the woman said to her family members in front of Christine:
“she doesn’t speak English”.
We were crazy busy on that night but everyone at the front desk heard that.
I was about to jump out and say something to that stupid woman but they walked away. She cried out in the back office afterward.
I was hurt too because I had similar situation before when I was new,
and I totally understand how bad she felt.
I told her that people here can be both very nice and friendly,
but also can be very rude and nasty.
“Don’t let them knock u down” I said to her
and I also told her how I rebuilt my confidence.
We are the best because we are bilingual.
It’s just hard for us to be here sometimes,
but just like the lyrics from an unknown song
“Don’t give up because you are loved.” I truly believe it.
